Indie R&B The Weeknd Releases Second Album

Last march, the Weeknd released their first album, House of Balloons, for free on their website. Raw, catchy, and unforgettable, the album immediately blew up, receiving attention from a crowd that ranged from Pitchfork-following hipsters to famous rapper Drake.

Only months later, R&B singer Abel Tesfaye has released his second album, again for free. Download it now, it's surely worth listening to. And check out some of the new songs below, and the crazy yet richly symbolic music video for The Morning, which was featured on their first album.

If you don't have it, get it. Download here. One of the best electronic songs this year, no question about it.

Someone Like You [Leaves me in awe about your creative genius]

You know when you're stuck in a creative rut, or even just a lazy one, thinking about things you've done and more you can do but you just can't find the inspiration or motivation to do it?

And then something comes along - perhaps a person, a song, the swaying of a tree during a northeastern hurricane, and you feel the urge to do it.

Name: G. Rut: Haven't made a short film or video or been inspired to in a while. Inspiration/motivation:

Real talk I almost cried during this. I'll be sure to post more about this filmmaker very soon....

French frenzy

More French music I like right now:

If you want to dance and say Fuck It because summer is ending:
Alors On Danse by Stromae

If you want to dance around your room in your underwear rejoicing because it's still summer for a little while longer:
Safari Disco Club by Yelle

If you want to wallow about a summer fling[s] that took a turn for the worst (or pretend you're Blair Waldorf in Paris in front of a certain painting... ok sorry I shouldn't be making a GG reference on an indie blog):
L'heure avait sonne by Joyce Jonathan

P.S. Disclaimer: I'm not saying I do any of these things. But I'm not necessarily saying I don't! :P
